Perception is powerful. The more you focus on something – the more that specific thing will begin to grow. The more you focus on it, think about it, and talk about it – well, you’re actually feeding it. You’re investing in it. Which means, the more you focus on your issue or problem – the more it becomes your reality.
“The Now Viewpoint” is your current circumstance.
The Now Viewpoint reminds me of the circle of life – what you can see all around you. I believe this viewpoint is your “now.”
This viewpoint is the very thing that wakes you up in the morning, it’s your main focus and concern all day, and it’s what you think about when you lay your head down at night. This could be a variety of good things or that one thing that robs your peace and steals your joy.
With all the demands of the day, it’s easy to get distracted and lose your focus. If your focus is off, you will miss your God opportunities in life.
These special God opportunities allow you to see through a “now” lens and viewpoint. This viewpoint empowers you to:
- To live in the now;
- To see and hear God;
- To see God in everything; and
- To appreciate all the little things in your life – things you love, savor and tuck away in your mind and heart to always cherish.
Don’t miss the beauty of your now, because you’re too worried about your tomorrow.
There’s a story of a woman in 2 Kings that was going through a horrible situation and she lost her husband. In her distress and loss, she had to face the reality that she was a widow and alone with two young sons. To make matters worse, she had her husband’s creditor threatening to take her sons as slaves until her debt was paid. Of course, this crisis would make anyone fearful, but God…
The woman lost her perception that Father God was more than enough.
She focused on the problem until it grew bigger and bigger. Then the woman became overwhelmed with fear and panic.
2 Kings 4:1-7 (ESV)
Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” And Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” And she said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.” So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She came and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”
Now at this point, the widow had a choice to make – she could trust the prophet and that he was hearing from God, or she could continue focusing on her problem through the lens and viewpoint of fear.
In her crisis and in her greatest pain, the words of the prophet awakened her to truth; this truth and instruction from the Lord shocked her back into the reality of the love and promises of God. Because God is faithful to provide, and His promises are always yes and amen.
The widow chose to trust the prophet and the Word of the Lord by:
- Calling out to the Prophet Elisha for help;
- Accepting the Word of the Lord;
- Following the prophet’s instructions;
- Following through until the end;
- The provision was fulfilled; and
- Father God always provides more than enough.
There’s a shift that has to happen to change your focus.
What is your shift? What will it take to wake you up? What shift will it take to shock you into the reality of God’s love?
What shift will stop you from focusing on your current circumstance – and remind you that God’s Word is true, and He is more than enough to guide you through any storm.
I declare over you that your shift is NOW.
No more waiting for others to move first, this is your time to hear God’s Word and instructions. Stop looking at your circumstance, even if it’s true. Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy. This is your shift!
Raise your head – you are not defeated. You are strong and courageous in the Lord. You will endure to the end. Pick yourself up. Dust your past off.
Put one foot in front of the other. You were built to make it.
Take your “Now Viewpoint” back. Use your NOW to see the truth of the Father, God’s Word, and to celebrate the little things in your life.
Stop letting the enemy distort your now and deceive your viewpoint by causing you to focus on your circumstances – instead of focusing on the One who can change them.
Your “now” is yours, so don’t give it away!
I see you shifting, and I am so proud of you,
Julie G.
