Everyone experiences some type of pain and heartache throughout their lifetime. Each time you experience pain and heartache, it creates fresh wounds that are stored deep within your soul. If you are seeking healing from a wounded past – Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door to the prison within your soul.
Some wounds are easier to expose and share with those you love and trust. Then there are other wounds that produce shame and condemnation.
Shame is a natural response to an unnatural encounter of abuse or humiliation caused by another or oneself. It isn’t a learned behavior, shame is a response.
All initial wounds are raw and exposed, as they lay bare on a platform in your mind…but somehow you feel the pain deep within your soul.
Pain and heartache cut like a knife and tears through your flesh causing jagged wounds… and every wound leaves you gasping for answers to all the questions:
“Why me, how did this happen, and I don’t understand?”
The rollercoaster of emotions and unanswered questions can easily lead to a faulty emotional foundation that is built on resentment, bitterness, anger, and hatred. If these wounds are not treated and healed… your foundation, life, and home might just be built on unforgiveness.
Unforgiveness invades your mind and poisons your perspective.
Once your perspective is poisoned, then every thought and viewpoint will be distorted, because you’re filtering every thought through a faulty lens.
5 main questions to evaluate your soul:
- Is your perspective in life-based on resentment?
- Are you bitter?
- Do you battle with anger?
- Are you struggling with unforgiveness?
- What is the ‘one thing’ that you have trouble letting go?
Through my own personal experience…
I have found forgiveness to be the key that unlocked the door to the prison within my soul.
I was 15 years old and was consumed with resentment that led to a spirit of hatred towards my abuser. Of course, no one blamed me for being angry, but poison is poison, and I was dying on the inside due to unforgiveness. My hatred was too heavy and it was poisoning my mind, body, and spirit.
I was a believer and had been serving God faithfully for three years. I loved God and trusted Him with all of my heart, but I didn’t how to release my pain to God. At 15, I became emotionally crippled by carrying the weight of unforgiveness.
In the spring of 1981, I stood out on a rice farm in Louisiana and prayed for hours with 3 family members – refusing to leave the same way I came. I prayed for Jesus to transform my wounded and broken heart because hatred was poisoning my soul.
My Redeemer, Jesus Christ heard my cry and came down that day and changed my DNA. I know that sounds crazy, but something shifted that day within me and transformed my perspective and healed my wounded soul.
FORGIVENESS is one of the main keys to release healing and freedom.
I don’t know what is holding you captive behind the prison doors of your soul, but I truly believe forgiveness is the key to unlock the door.
Unforgiveness is…
- Heavy
- A thief, and
- A killer.
Don’t waste another moment carrying the weight of your pain, your bitterness, and your unforgiveness. Your freedom is within you and you hold the key.
Forgiveness has nothing to do with that person; it has everything to do with you and if you are willing to release it to the Lord. No matter what happened, or what they did, it isn’t worth you drinking from the fountain of death.
So free yourself and FORGIVE!
Once you forgive… immediately Father God will be there to apply the Balm of Gilead over your wounded soul and begin healing you from the inside out.
So, take a deep breath, cast your cares on the Lord, and forgive,
